Operation Salami Drop is sponsored by Hobby's Delicatessen and Restaurant in Newark. Operation Salami Drop was started when Hobby's partner Michael Brummer decided to send one of his fraternity borthers, Captain Michael Rothman, a few salamis as he was getting ready to ship out to Iraq.

It was then that the two Mikes, along with Michael Brummer's brother and partner, Marc, decided to get every soldier serving in Iraq a small reminder of home. As Marc put it, "We know there are a bunch of homesick men and women over there, and to be able to do something. ... How do you put words to it? You have to do something. I can do salamis."

The whole Hobby's staff has been working hard to try to make this vision become a reality. All of the money collected goes toward salamis and shipping (oh, I forget, and mustard).

Thank you to the entire Brummer family, the Hobby's community, and, most of all, our brave soldiers serving in all branches of the military!
